Background: Aruna comes from a middle class background. She has one older sister (who's her senior by 9 years). Her parents are extremely protective of her, always reading her fairytales when she was a kid and never failing to tell her the morals of the story (Don't talk to strangers! Don't let strangers in your house!). Despite this overkill of old European make believe Aruna still loves fairytales. Not so much the cautionary part, but the magic in them all. Talking animals, fairies and witches.
She was alright when she was in elementary school where most of her peers liked fantastic stories and playing make believe though she felt herself growing more and more distant as she grew older. Eventually she felt she had to make the choice between letting go of her fantasies and making friends she didn't really like or being labeled "weird" for the rest of her schooltime due to her dreamy nature and apatheticness to current [social] events. She chose the second one, though it did cause her to grow more quiet and her grades started dropping.
By the time she went to middle school her parents grew concerned, it was quite clear Aruna wasn't happy where she was and they feared her grades would drop even lower if they kept her where she was. When Aruna came home one day, having learned of Academia di Fiori it took her parents a long time before they decided she would be allowed to go. They saw how their daughter would light up whenever she talked about the school and how wonderful it seemed, and she had always been able to hold her own so maybe it was time to let her walk her own path.
They let her enroll in her 9th year, on the condition that she would write home every day.
Trivia:
- Despite being a calm and generally slow moving girl, Aruna loves dancing. She feels it makes her fighting style more majestic.
- Has German roots and has taken the time to learn the language
- Not very fond of sweets, loves spicy foods as they "make her feel awake"
